Today we sort of had a date, but one of our mutual friends was there.

We got Lunch, then watched a movie, then had dinner,

So we spent 9 hours together.

And so far you've said nothing about isolating her, kino, kiss, or escalating in general..

yes, what you sent was a "conversation-ender" which is why she replied with "yeah haha" then tells you goodnight hours later.

I'm against the whole sending X's thing so I just said "goodnight" - hoping that was the right choice.

That sounds like hanging out with friends not a date. If your not escalating or isolating (which can be done subtly too btw) then you're putting yourself into orbiter territory. For future reference don't go shopping with a chick you wanna bang, it'll either frame you as another one of her girlfriends or a beta bucks guy.
