Respect isn't so much earned as required. If your friends aren't respecting you, you walk. When and if they beg you to be friends, you have a negotiating chip. If they don't beg, they don't respect you and didn't care.

Lift weights to get physically imposing. Then take that confidence and use it to be a type of dude that isn't afraid of conflict and people know you won't take shit. It is often easier to simply change for the better then find a new social circle that has never seen you as beta.
