Occasional commenter, following TRP for about four months. Submitting tonight to pose a query about whether I reacted correctly in this situation at work.

Me: 26, tall, overweight, black. Steadily building SMV (gym consistently, reading more, building more game), but I've got a ways to go. I work at a crisis line center with only one other male co-worker and the rest women: I'm acquaintances with two, but it's an office full of women, so of course, they'll pick sides to start shit because AWALT.

Wednesdays we get two volunteers (only one was in, HBD 7: engaged) and I'm paired with this co-worker (HBD4: single) who likes to shirk on her responsibilities and throw shade occasionally. I've gotten the lowdown on how things were before starting, so I make sure to always assert myself when necessary, say no when they attempt to assign me shit that hasn't nothing to do with me, and the like. I don't often get to work under my supervisor, but I've received high commendations from her since starting.

Tonight, they decide to throw me a well-being call to dial out to one of our clients. I call them out on their chicken-shit hamster processing, take the call just to get it over with because the HBD4 conveniently takes a contracted call that needs to be fulfilled while the volunteer proceeds to continue with the rest of the clients (I know, bad move.) They're listening in on speaker and heard the client expressing discontent about a missed call from yesterday. The volunteer gets all pissy about how they lamented on it (they were being sarcastic) and I teased the two of them for being so scary. The volunteer decides to flex her shit testing prowess and tells me to "shut the fuck up!" I escalate and tell her if she's not capable of handling a simple call, she can leave. She calls me a beast, I chose to AA: "Beast says, get the fuck out."

At this point, the bitch chooses to throw something at me from her cubicle. I work with kids with autism and behavioral disorders: I don't allow others to throw shit at me. So I get up, take the highlighter she threw, walk up to her and state, "I don't know what you think this is, but this isn't high school and we don't throw shit like kids." I throw it at her desk, and go back to my own. HBD4 decides to jump into the fray and throws shit at me as well, thinking I'm letting shit ride - no. I'm slightly visibly frustrated, but I own it because they pissed me off. HBD7 attempts to further it, "Oh, are you getting mad??" I decide not to verbally give her the satisfaction, say no, and go back to doing my job.

7 leaves, kisses 4's ass for sticking by her and notes how she's not saying bye to me because I'm mad. 4 attempts to return the ass kissing, attempting to alleviate things by saying that I was "just playing." After finishing another one of my calls, she reiterates 7's comments. I go, "I am." with stern conviction. She tries to set her (and herself subconsciously) up as the victims, stating, "But she was just playing!"

Me: "The playing stopped when she threw shit at me. You wanna play like that, this is who you're gonna get." - leaving it at that. She kept her mouth the rest of the night.

So, what do you all think: anything I could've done better? Anything I should implement should this occur again?
