Long-time lurker, joined Reddit to post here, let's hope I don't regret it.
Quick background about me: M, 27, 6.1", 185lb, funny, relatively alpha, medical resident. After a series of terrible relationships with women who always cheated then blamed me for not "giving them enough attention", I finally swallowed the red pill and found the subreddit during my anger phase (Lots of typing angry rants into Google and one thing led to another). Since then, I have turned my life around, I lost the extra weight I gained last few years, been working out, eating healthier food, reading more to enhance my knowledge, etc. My game with women has improved drastically, I can now get laid around 3 times a week which is great considering my schedule.
Problem: A while back, I was called to a patient we shared with another department, I met one of the residents there (F, 26, 8, ~5.7", ~140lb, middle eastern but not burka-wearing or anything like that). She was very helpful with the case and we talked for a little while before she had to go, she was very witty with a great sense of humor (Dark and cynical, my favorite type). I saw her in the cafeteria a few days later, she was reading a book, I decided to go to her and started a conversation by commenting on the book's title, she replied with a witty remark and we continued in banter. She was so different from all other female medical students I knew who were always high-strung, she was easy-going, funny, great music taste, spoke 5 languages, highly intelligent, extremely well-read (There was not a topic I brought up that she hadn't read something about before) and very logical (Unlike many women I know, she wasn't prone to let her emotions take control of her decisions and opinions). I got hooked, I kept going to her every time I saw her and I became infatuated. I love a great pair of T&A as much as the next guy but intelligence and a great personality turn me on more than anything and this girl had them in abundance! All my attempts to ask her out outside the hospital were met with firm rejection (I know TRP's answer to this would be to move the fuck on but I can't) so I, well, followed her once (Stalking is a strong word) to see if she was already in a relationship she wouldn't talk about (She rarely talks about herself or shares anything personal). She met with a girl whom I met before (I got to know her and her fiancée in a medical conference and we struck up a shallow friendship, the great thing about doctors in the same area is that we end up meeting each other sooner or later). Yours truly called the fiancée and told him we should meet up for a few drinks. The guy is a cheap drunk so I got him talking in less than 20 minutes, I mentioned the girl casually and he said he knew her because she is a close friend to his fiancée and all 3 of them went to the same medical school in their home country. Getting him to share things he knew about her wasn't hard but here's the catch, he didn't know much about her, they've known each other for over 10 years and what he knows about her is so little compared to what he should know. He said she never had a relationship be it LT or casual because she rejected all those who asked her out (Red flag!) and although she has many friends, she never confides in any of them (At least not the ones he knows). After a while, he said that she sometimes terrified him, I asked why and he said that it's not anything she ever did or said but just a general feeling he gets after being around her for so long. He then mentioned random stuff like how one time after a very long shift, they had a patient who died on them in a way that was very painful and when he looked at her, her face wasn't shocked or scared, he described it as dead but when she noticed him looking at her, she changed her expression so quickly he thought the first thing he saw was just something he imagined because he was sleep-deprived. He also talked about how she always has a look of faint amusement or fascination when they watch movies which have extremely violent scenes. He said he thinks she might be an aromantic asexual but what he said got me thinking (And I could be very far off here) that she could be a psychopath? I haven't read much about Dark Triads but I do know that that is one of their traits, the others being Machiavellianism (I didn't notice anything "manipulative" about her but she is very practical and straight-to-the-point, when I once mentioned how she helps everyone even though some of them are only using her, she said that all human relationships are people "using" each other for things they can't get on their own and that sugar-coating it with words like love or friendship doesn't change the fact that relationships are built on mutual advantage and they end when those advantages are no longer available) and narcissism (Didn't notice anything narcissistic about her at all). He also said that he once watched a movie where a character said something and the first image that popped to his head was her. I think I found the quote he meant on IMDB so here it is because the quote felt relevant to my analysis because the woman I noticed was very friendly and kind, I have yet to meet someone in the hospital who dislikes her:
When I came out into society I was 15. I already knew that the role I was condemned to, namely to keep quiet and do what I was told, gave me the perfect opportunity to listen and observe. Not to what people told me, which naturally was of no interest, but to whatever it was they were trying to hide. I practiced detachment. I learned how to look cheerful while under the table I stuck a fork into the back of my hand. I became a virtuoso of deceit. It wasn't pleasure I was afer, it was knowledge. I consulted the strictest moralists to learn how to appear, philosophers to find out what to think, and novelists to see what I could get away with, and in the end, I distilled everything to one wonderfully simple principle: win or die.
I drifted pretty far off topic but point is I can't stay away from her, I tried to distance myself and avoid her but I couldn't last 4 days, she is my unicorn and I want her like I never wanted anything before. I have a few theories as to why I can't stick to my new RP beliefs with this girl:
1- I'm trying to puke TRP by pedestalizing the girl, I was pretty BP before my wake up call and I might be trying to slip back to the comfort of that existence.
2- I am highly driven and very competitive and I am a sore loser. I used to be that way only in my career but lately, I have let those traits seep into all aspects of my life. I want this girl and the idea that I can't get her drives me crazy.
3- The girl is actually DT and I'm in far over my head because she has rejected me very clearly (Or is she shit-testing me?) and some dumb-as-shit part of me still thinks I can get her.
I need solid and practical advice on how to get myself out of this hole because it's fucking up my life, I'm having a hard time enjoying things I usually like and other girls don't interest me anymore. I tried ignoring her but I kept going back like a sick puppy and I feel pathetic! I want to get my life back on track and I would appreciate any help I can get.
