But seriously, bad mistake getting with her just before val, wouldn't be surprised if she breaks it up in a few weeks.

If you don't want to get her something personally I would ignore the text. Then when/if she brings it up in person just say "not this year". If she asks why, just tell her there isn't enough time to book something good but there is always next year if she behaves herself...

You could always book a little inexpensive dinner with food you enjoy close to 14th as she won't be expecting it but dont relate it to valentines day.
