It means you're trying to hard which is the number one mistake guys make who are operating based on internet advice over personal experience.

Take the real life feedback over anything and adjust. Maybe you're not funny. Considering you didnt back yourself up with one example that's probably the case.

I'd say there is a minimum comprehension level for that joke/ sorry that the joke is not appropriate for your level of IQ
