I asked one of my plates to go sailing with me this weekend and overnight on the boat. She said yes initially, then messaged back in about 20 minutes to cancel.

At anchor, I shot her a text to flirt. I don't recall exactly what I said, but she would up fishing for who I had taken sailing. As it happens, I'd forgotten about the calendar, and hadn't taken anyone.

I screwed up and told her something like, "I only share my boat with a few people," and admitted I was single handing.

I had a number of options that would have been better. They included:

  1. Radio silence
  2. Lie
  3. LOL
  4. But the best would have been, "Oh, a gentleman doesn't discuss such things."

She caught me off guard. She's just a plate, but I am still going to have to do some damage control.

We will start with a week of radio silence.
