Hi guys, I am looking for some insights as I feel like I am going through some kind of semi-existential crisis.
Basically, I am a 22 year old college student in a highly respectible field with potetial to make good money after graduation.
Well, that is fantastic, right? Maybe. Last few years, my social life has been pretty much non-extistant due to the fact that 1.I am somewhat introverted, 2. I have to have a job to pay for my rent on top of my studies.
I am not special. There a lot of people who go through damn tough times and come out at the other like a champion. I admire them with all my heart. That is not the problem.
The issue that is bugging me is how my dating scene is going to look like when I have graduated. I have basically set goals for myself that I want to reach in my twenties. Mostly financial goals, but mostly to become independent and efficient in my daily life.
And I can't stop feeling like I am becoming some kind of a provider. Will the women I will be dating appreciate the work I have put in myself to become a good man? Will they appreciate the fact that I gave away my youth to make something out of myself despite my dysfuntional childhood? Or the fact that I will be the one breaking generational cycle of poverty, drug abuse and misery in my family? Better question will be whether I will be able to find women who will.
Around me, I already feel a shift as women realise how cruel the world can be. I have been getting more attention because i have 'got potential'. But I haven't done all of this to provide for some girl who has been on the c-carousel in her twenties with the comfort her parents has provided but decided to 'settle down' with a 'nice guy'. So, what am I doing it for?
