Judging from the tone of this article, men are somehow still supposed to "have pride" and only take fro their ex wives' assets "what they deserved" (i.e. very little), so people get irritated when they take what the law grants them (i.e. quite a lot). The tables would be turning if this happens often enough and people start having a closer look at divorce rulings.

The hamstering and hypocrisy is incredible here. You're not "all for equality". You afforded the mortgages, in part, because you yourself got a divorce settlement from a higher earning male. Now you remarry handsome surfer dude and you're blown away that he should get a cut of your hard earned money. She then attacks surferdude's 'pride', almost breaking the hamster fourth wall by tacitly suggesting that she has none.

Where the law lies if you’re a higher-earning wife:

The law treats men and women equally.
