David Futrelle's disturbing defence of a film that consists almost entirely of graphic scenes depicting the sexual abuse and torture of naked children and that was rented out in a seedy gay bookstore.

That film is by Pier Paolo Pasolini (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pier_Paolo_Pasolini) and was an updated version of the Marquis de Sade's book 120 Days of Sodom. The film's theme is about POWER and in this case the power of the elite in Italy around the time that the fascists were finally being driven out...end of WW II. The rich elitists holed themselves up in a remote "castle" in the mountains of Italy and resolve to not open up the doors until they have fully explored their power...which ultimately leads to murder but not after a whole bunch of sick shit is perpetrated on their "captives". de Sade wrote this book as a criticism of the elite in his day and their ability to operate without any moral framework on a peasant class that had no power...Pasolini brilliantly updated it to Fascist Italy...I watched it, and it was repugnant to watch, but it certainly was not erotic nor was it intended to be...the entire plot of the film explores POWER dynamics and in this case when the powers are trying to be immoral or amoral. I'm not wading into this debate but if anyone thinks that movie is intended to be erotica should probably watch it or read the book...it is about power and abuse of power.

At this point Futrelle is basically a joke. Even the feminists have abandoned him to the wolves after he got caught with his pants down again.

As much as he deserves to be poked with a sharp stick I cba to even give him a moments thought.
