I feel the same way looking at a bodybuilding magazine. I mean, it's obvious that no one can actually get that ripped. Same for GQ, it should be apparent to everyone that no guy can dress suave and make half a million dollars in salary. /s
If women cannot attain something, then it doesn't exist. They permanently wear emotional blinders to shield uncomfortable realities.
The magazines are not trying to portray reality, they are trying to make you insecure in order to sell you something.
It's like a stupid infomercial for a hose that never kinks. They show a grayed-out sequence of a guy struggling with a regular hose and shaking his head. You may have never thought twice about your hose being a problem, but all of a sudden you realize it is a problem, and they have the solution for $19.95 plus shipping and handling.
Women don't even understand the manipulative, rather than informative, intent of the media they consume.
Additionally, men who see these images of models do not think to themselves, "Well, it's obvious this is possible, so I am going to expect the women in my life to live up to this standard, and I will consider them worthless if they do not fall in the 99th percentile." We can look at a pretty picture without expecting all women to compete with that.
That's what really bothers women about these photos: it makes them think about the uncomfortable fact that they cannot compete with some females. This goes back to an earlier post about how if your SO leaves you for someone else, men tend to prefer that the new suitor be "better" than he was; at least you got legitimately beat. Women seem to respond that they wish the new woman was uglier, so they feel like the man "messed up" and is the bad guy. They don't want to face the reality that they cannot compete with some subset of other women.

I didn't say it in the original post you are referring to, so here is as good a place as any.
Before trp, I have been left twice for what I viewed as inferior men. I'm not delusional to think I was some Adonis, but I'm talking these guys were just plain worse. The first one easily could have passed for a homeless guy, looked like he was 9 months pregnant, greasy hair, balding with a bad comb over. "Well he must have been loaded." you say. Wrong. He was broke as shit, and at the time worked at a gas station. "Well then he must have been amazing to interact with in person, witty and charismatic." Nope. Met and hung out with "them" for half a day before I found out he was my replacement. And he was old, like 42 or 43. And an alcoholic. If I had felt he was better in some way that he was an obvious upgrade over me, I could have at least understood. Like, "Oh, well that's why you left me, he's a good looking, high status man with an infectious personality."
The second time with a different girl was a similar situation, late 40's shitty job (video store) alcoholic, looks like shit, lives in a filthy shithole, alcoholic, anti-social (I did not have a "meet the new beau" experience with this one, like the cuckold I was I still talked to the ex for a time after) Again, if I had simply been beaten by a good looking, high status, pleasant, interesting person, at least I could say "Well clearly, I'd dump me for him too." Forgot to point out that I am mid 20's at the time of both of these occurring.

I think the moral of the story here truley is that the image in the media IS attainable. Most tend not to attempt to attain it. When I was a fat kid I said to myself one day "Hey I need to lose weight work out and become successful." I hit the weights, weighed my food, lost 80 lbs and attained the image I wanted. The problem with this "That image is unattainable " bullshit is that people want the easy way out. This fucking "love yourself as you are" bullshit movement is a sham for people to bring down the standard as opposed to bringing themselves up. This is why its so important to focus on self improvement. My facebook feed is covered with bitches complaining about fat "shaming" and I'm sick of it. You should be ashamed: you aren't doing anything to fix YOUR PROBLEM! ,......... End of Rant.

this reminds me of a conversation I had with a girl who liked to snoop. She found my porn collection (I don't "hide" anything, if you get offended by something you find [like texts to your best friend], it's your fault) and was surprised at the "variety" of themes, and was a little shocked that I was into just about everything. How could I be turned on by old, fat, skinny, teen, ugly, fake tits, etc... ? I told her I was attracted to women, not some standard. It seemed to baffle her that I didn't judge and qualify women like she did.
