That strategy sounds like:
A) Call into question her boyfriend's lack of commitment.
B) Sell yourself by suggesting how your own brand of POTENTIAL commitment is better.
At the end of the day you're still pimping commitment. Something which you've already established as fleeting and uncertain. Most women aren't as willing to "trade horses" as you think. In fact, many women stay in LTRs just to stay out of the game. In other words, it's a safe bet for her.
You really want to mess around with a chick with a boyfriend? Insinuate that the LTR life is boring.
Her: "I have a boyfriend..."
You: "Haha...oh no way?? Gotta get out and have fun at least once a month right?"

From there you're selling fun. At the least you could give her a fun night (play darts, shoot pool, take shots and flirt). At the medium you may give her some fun of the physical variety (making out with a stranger, a naughty ONS, whatever). At the maximum she might want to be with you because you've proven yourself as a more fun person and therefore will be a more fun boyfriend.
Sure, women want commitment but "girls just want to have fun."

Yeah I agree. If she wanted commitment she wouldn't be out while she has a boyfriend. She already has commitment, she's looking for fun. If a girl has plenty of "fun" and her life and is frustrated with the alpha dude who won't commit, then selling her commitment works. But in the latter case, selling her fun works still, because she has proven time and time again that she buys that.

It all depends on the girl in the situation. If she is unsatisfied with her current level or attention from her bf but reluctant to cheat, the strat in the article works almost everytime. If she's just a loose goose that has some beta paying for the title of boyfriend, then the other approach would be better.

Your first approach (he sounds nice) was more realistic than the second.
The second approach is just too much work, for me anyway. If you're having to work that hard for a girl's attention, you're putting too much effort into this.
Unless you just like going after taken girls for some particular reason. If that's your thing, game on.

Tactics are by and large part of a strategy. That's actually the first bf destroying tactic I've seen tossed in here.
We talk too much about how girls are completely fucked and not enough on how to bed them these days.
This straw man idea here doesn't seem half bad, although temporary and only on the most insecure of women.
