Friend messed up big business opportunity trying to help . Should I forgive him ?

If you have equal say in the company then he's your friend, he had good intentions. Just take the hit and move on....

If you are have a bigger say in the decisions on the company than it's your fault since you allowed him to handle it his way.

Hard to say without knowing details but generally in life it’s better to forgive and move on. However in business you can’t afford to make the same mistake twice. I’d probably take some authority away because he had explicit instructions and chose to do the opposite. Even with the best intentions he’s shown that he doesn’t believe you know what’s best for your business and will Overstep his authority when he want to.

If this is a one time thing then forgive and move on. Learning experience for everyone. If this is a pattern, you need to cut him loose.

First mistake is going into business with friends. Not a lot fo context to go on, but everyone fucks up on their best intention, I'd forgive it unless you both have equal say in decisions and he disregarded you and did his own thing- then I'd re-evaluate the business relationship.
