Look you're a newbie and standing up to your managers is just going to make people dislike you.

What I did was to spend time to understand the industry, Understand the business and my role within the business.

This allowed to give meaningful input into projects, started adjusting sprints and eventually it felt like the manager was just there to make sure I could get everything done. I was telling them what I needed to get my job done.

I had one bad manager who was just a power tripping type of person, I have their job now.

Being alpha does not just mean being dominate. It means being popular and liked by almost everyone. And alpha with friends will always get much farther in life then the lone wolf.

Acting subordinate to a superior is not beta. You don't have the abilities the superiors do(most likely), so learn from them. Or at least just do what they say so you don't get fired.

You really don't want your superiors thinking you are testing them, it won't work out well. Learn from them, and they will see that you are able to withstand pressure and draw knowledge from their interactions with you.

What does the Alpha inherently value? A strong subordinate capable of having the Alphas back, one who takes guidance and learns from the Alpha.

You're not a pussy, you're just in a new role and need to relax and take the time to find your niche to shine.

1) read the 48 laws of power book.

2) gain product/industry knowledge as it will give you confidence - not just at work, read the trade rags or user/vendor forums while you do cario on your phone, live it, soak it

3) volunteer for any projects outside your main area to gain contacts and get a positive rep
