I have a large family but due to all the drama over the years we no longer talk. They often go out and have fun together and host many events without us. When we run into each other we talk and chat but that’s it. We never hangout if we invite them over they make excuses. What really bothers me is my cousins all go out barhopping together and they’re all my age. We have the same interests and we’re literally so closely related we even look the same. Yet they do their best to make sure I never go out with them. I’ve tried many times they always either flake or just don’t text me the day we’re going out. They just completely avoid me. If I mention anything they’ll tell me oh yeah we should definitely go out. Then they’ll say “I’ll call you” or “ill text you” and I’ll never get either one. If I do call or text first it’s a no go just excuse after excuse. I still go out with some friends but it’s really not the same as going out with family. It’s not the same going out with people you grew up with. I don’t know how to explain it. I gave up years ago but my father still defends them even though he knows it’s true because it’s his side of the family. I was wondering will I ever eventually find anyone close? I always believed family was the closest. I had a very close best friend I was friends with for maybe 8 years and he chose money over the entire friendship. The guy literally threw away all the 8 years over $200. I found that hilarious lol I let him keep them as long as he never contacted me again. I have a very small circle of friends. I don’t mind being in a small circle the reason this worries me is because most successful people tend to have large circles of friends. I’m afraid I’ll never outgrow this if I’m in my mid 20s and still the same way I was in middle school. I feel like I really have no support without a large family like many successful people do.
