I'm a life long, super-immature immature 36 year old and just got my first "real" job a year ago. I've since been there a year and it's going well. I'm known for my extreme introversion in the office, but some of the managers and supervisors are more fond of me than others. Due to the bad commute, I've had a handful of minor, but embarrassing issues with attendance. No one can deny that I hold down the job, but one of the three assistant managers clearly views me as immature and unprofessional, doesn't like me (the other two are cool). There was an extremely mortifying incident where I was "composing" in my own personal journals of my private soliloquies in Google Docs documents on my work computer, which they, as the QA team, can, and do as it turns out, actually see exactly what's on your screen during recorded call monitors. Two female supervisors (one attractive) read the most intimate stuff I wrote about my ex who broke up with me last year, among other things, and referred me to counseling. My own supervisor, an attractive 50-something Jewish lady, while helpful, the vibe I get from her is that I think sees me as whiny and weak, although she has complimented me sincerely on certain parts of my work. I actually cried in front of her one day when I got upset at work about a serious medical condition that has arisen recently. I wasn't bawling or anything but I was clearly in tears, cursing and swearing my way through the speech. It isn't terminal, but it is life-altering in a very bad way. In the coming months, I will have a very high-stakes, expensive, unorthodox medical procedure in a foreign country to address the issue. I need to request, in total, up to 3-4 weeks off at an important time when people are not normally allowed time off. I want to address the managers, request the time off in a professional way, and make them aware of the situation to justify it, without coming across as a whiny little b. Please give me advice. should I cc my, cold bytchy Jew sup to make her aware, even though she will not be involved in the decision? and for the record, while I'm not high right now, I am in the mood to write like I am.
