About 40% of US couples first meet through online dating. Whether we want to admit it or not this is what the future is going to look like.

I'm not saying people will never cold approach or meet the old fashioned way or whatever, but we're approaching the point where it is no longer the norm. It would be ridiculous to stick your head in the sand about this see change in gender dynamics. There is a lot interesting to analyze about this. The heightened superficiality of the market, the exaggeration of existing trends (like men being the pursuers and women feeling swamped by male advances)... the encroachment of corporations and marketing firms into the most intimate realm of social relations. It's a valid topic for discussion at the least. Most relevant to the topic at hand, online dating is too big to ignore for any would-be playboy.

On top of all that, there will certainly come a day (even if not right now) where one cannot simply not online date, for fear of being looked at as some kind of old fashioned weirdo or just not being able to find anyone that the more efficient medium that is technology didn't get to first. It may be two decades or more down the pipe, but it's coming.
