There's a controversy going on in the Pro-Wrestling world about a wrestler named Randy Orton. The allegation is that he used to rib noob writers just coming into the business by pulling down his shorts, grabbing his dick, and then, with his dick still hanging out, offering to shake the person's hand. If they refused, he would go, "What, you think you're some kind of big shot, you won't shake my hand!? Wait until Vince (McMahon, the boss) hears about this!"

Anyone who's followed wresting history knows it's hardly an isolated thing to do a rib like this. Pranking and playing gags on each other has a very long history, and, like the military, people in the wrestling business are a bit more hardcore than the average person, so their idea of funny is a bit more hardcore too. His attitude is basically, "If this sort of thing isn't your cup of tea, stay the fuck out of the wrestling business, find something else to do." Also remarking, "The 'counter' to what Orton did would have been to grab his dick and squeeze it as hard as you could and watch him squeal in pain. If a writer did that, Vince would have made him head writer!"

Now, I love Jim Cornette, I think the world would be at a loss without characters like him. And beyond that, this is the world wrestlers inhabit. It's not for everyone, but it is for some. My question is, do you think it's just untenable in our modern era for people like this to exist and live in the world they prefer? Or is there simply no place for them anymore?
