A bachelor's degree in the new HS diploma, so you basically need one just to gain access to the starting point. Depending on field, it doesnt matter what your BA is in, just as long as you finished. But that expensive ass paper lets you compete for cushy office jobs.

Trades can be a great option, but its much more devastating on your body. Unless you can open up your own business and hire others, of course.

When I asked for degrees on job postings for positions that didn't require it, I was trying to avoid single mothers and ghetto people more than looking for people with a degree. Basically a bunch of traits I'm not allowed to discriminate over. If somebody had the qualifications and actually wrote a cover letter, I never even scrolled down to the bottom of their resume where their education was listed.

This were BS admin positions, like $18 an hour. However, a young person could hypothetically move up through such positions without a degree and do fine. I have a friend who makes $60k as an admin at a plaintiff firm without a degree. I know others who work for the city in some fashion and make about 50k. Two incomes like that and you buy a house in my area and live ok.
