Hello, Everyone. Throughout the year, I have noticed a paradigm about how my confidence fluctuates depending on the people I am around.

First of all, I'd like to say that I know that no one is above anyone else, and comparing yourself to other people is not right.

Anyway, when I am around friends that have a lower SMV than I do, and that I make more money than (I'm in college), and that I know I have more connections than, I am the most alpha person ever. I literally am the leader of the group. At parties, when we approach girls, I get first dibs on who I want. I even walk more confident and feel more confident and even taller. And, I attract more girls.

However, when I hang out with friends that have a higher SMV than I do, make more money than I do, and have more connections than I do, I literally am the most insecure bitch ever. When we approach girls when I'm around these guys, girls have told me that I look really young and innocent. I can't even stand up straight around these guys for some reason, and I don't know why. Because one of them hooked me up with my job (its a competitive job), I feel like I owe him for it, and I pretty much end up trying to make sure that everything goes well for him.

Also, when I approach really attractive girls, and I like them, I get really nervous. I asked them out anyway, but they usually turn me down gently or flake on me. But, after I've asked them out (even if they reject me), I feel more confident. Sometimes I bump into them again, and I talk to them, and I am way more confident, and they usually gain interest after that.

Can someone explain why I am insecure around people that I deem above me, and how can I fix that?
