I had a similar situation too. I found a small kitty in my henhouse just slurping around. He was all dirty and he kinda looked sad. I took him, and he did not show any resistance which is a sign that he was still young kitty and didn't know much of the world. I kept him outside of the house, in a part of a building used to keep stuff like tools etc. I brought him a cardboard box which I tucked in a little old blanket. I fed him and even bough special kitten milk (I've learned that cats don't drink the milk we humans do, which is contrary to what my grandparents preached). He was always up for cuddling, and he always knew the proper cat feces disposal which is quite odd for a young cat. Not to mention that he enjoyed butchering mouses, and those bastards were plentiful. I named him after a genocidal dictator of my country. Since the henhouse was easy for a cat to get in and out so he did just that. Eventually, I stopped seeing him altogether. I heard a rumor that a gray cat with black stripes was ran over.

Protip : Cats who live out in the open are generally happier but live shorter.

I miss that kitty ;_;
