Just wanted to say that her evo-psych assertions are controversial at best. I cringed quite badly when she started talking about "hunter-gatherers." I don't know if she has no idea what she's talking about, or if she just sounds that way.

Hunter gatherers almost certainly had varied diets. There were definitely groups that only hunted small game such as squirrels and rabbits. There were groups that had diets consisting of only 10% meat. There were groups that had diets consisting of 90% meat. Yes, there were also groups that hunted large game.

Furthermore, the way she describes men competing against each other to catch the biggest woolly mammoth, it doesn't seem realistic. Do you see other pack animals doing that? No. Pack animals hunt together, and they share resources within the group. There may or may not have been various forms of hierarchies, but nothing like what she describes.

EDIT: Oh, and she also cites that "10 percent of babies born" don't match the DNA of the father. Uh...source? Most studies I've seen indicate the rate is much closer to 2% to 5% at the absolute highest. I've never seen a study that indicates it's as high as 10%.

Another thing, she talks about oxytocin release after sex to initiate pair bonding. She implies only females release this hormone and it causes pair bonding. A couple things:

Oxytocin is released by males AND females during and after sex in equal ammounts. If there is an increase in pair bonding among females, it's because estrogen seems to slightly enhance that effect.
The idea of oxytocin being the "love" or "cuddle" hormone is overblown. It's the type pop science you see in Cosmo. It absolutely plays a role here, but it's much more complicated than the stuff Dr Wendy is spoon feeding us.

Her points about the economic side of the issues are great. I definitely agree with someone. The biological stuff is a bit too dumbed down to the point where it just sounds wrong. It sounds like middle school biology.

I'm surprised I don't see this video being recycled at trp every other week.

If karma farming was important to me and if trp was a decent karma farm, I'd have posted it there myself.
