I had a bad rep in school after I had a fight with some of my closest friends, and after that I had very less other friends in school. Somehow at the new place where I am, there are 2-3people very close to the people at my old hs, and one of them approached me today saying the names of the people I had a fight with mockingly. Wasnt such a big deal, and even though he tried to walk away I stopped him and asked why he said that. He told me that former friends were talking about me and when I asked what, he tried to find his way out. Eventually I let it go aswell since I was running late for a class.

Now the problem is that this guy is quite popular and quite social, and I fear he may tell others about what he just heard. It can damage my rep and my chances of building a good social circle. What should I do about it?
