Since humour is an indication of intelligence, it is attractive to women because it increases their chance of survival (provider/caretaker role).

On the other hand it can seem sort of supplicating and a needy cry for attention (having to ridicule every situation and making everything a joke isnt going to get anyone far).

I'm guessing it highly depends on the individual, if you already are alpha making jokes is alpha, but when you're beta making jokes is weak behaviour.

Anybody have some general advice on this?
