I've been in this situation before, and likely will again soon, and the same probably goes for you.

The first time this happened, I was in my freshmen year of college. I went for computer science because I'm good at it and it pays well. I was a beta at the time, with some basic alpha characteristics. I made good money outside of school. I was tall. I lived an exciting life and had cool hobbies. I had basic confidence which really stands out in an environment of computer geeks.

I wasn't into weird video games and anime shit so I didn't fit in well and they polarized me for anything they could. My solution was: I changed schools, going from a small town to a massive city where I could have another life outside of computer science, hang with people of my type, etc. Things were better.

But this isn't always going to be an option. Say you end up working for a company where the lead is the closest IRL representation of Nancy Pelosi you'll ever meet and she will sense your body language and shame you for it. How do you deal with shit like this? Is it easier to just act beta in that environment?
