Original Post - Don't Be Like Bruce
One day my wife said to me, "I don't want to look at any more dick pics."
I said, "Excuse me?"
Penny was a wife typical of the blind Beta. A product of low American culture, she was large, crass and a bit heavy handed with her husband and children. Bruce met Penny in college, and by the time I met him, Bruce was the penultimate family man, having abandoned his own improvement outside of his professional life, focused on dutiful provisioning. Penny worked a full time job earning close to what Bruce was making, and drove the domestic duties. She had the house and the car and the neighborhood and the kids. She loved to cook, and it showed in her and her family's physique. She loved to host parties. She loved to gossip.
After Bruce died, my wife and I were there for Penny as best we were able. Having been through more than our fair share of deaths, we felt we had something to offer. Being there to let Penny vent, though an emotional hardship in it's own right, made us feel like we were doing our small part to help her and her kids. Myself and a couple other dads took the boys on outings to give them a small fraction of what was missing in their lives. Penny put pictures of Bruce up around the house - travels to Paris, at parks, their wedding day - giving him prominence in their home. As much as can be said of such things, things were going well.
Then about three months later, things began to change.
Penny became angry at Bruce - which is actually a normal thing in such circumstances. However, she began to take steps to prune him out of her life. The pictures of Bruce were suddenly and conspicuously absent. Penny began to replace furniture that she had purchased with Bruce, and she sold off the truck he had driven.
One day, Penny told my wife she was looking men up on Tinder.
At first, Penny said that they were just meet-and-greets, that the kids wouldn't know anything about it. It was not very long after that the youngest was confronting a strange naked man in his mother's bed. My wife, horrified at this turn of events, began to withdraw from her association with Penny. We both agreed that it was far too early for Penny to be getting involved with someone - even an ONS - and that her kids were likely to suffer from it. It is very hard to be around someone making such mistakes and still try to act supportive.
My last event with Penny was when she invited us to a party at her house to watch a championship football game. Our local sports franchise pulled off a stunning victory, and in her exuberance Penny purchased a wildly expensive Super Bowl package right then. A few minutes after this impulsive, exorbitant purchase, she looked around the room and asked, "Who is going to watch my kids?" It was then that I realized just how far she had fallen.
My wife still ran into Penny at a sports club that our kids attend, and stories would trickle in. Penny's wild nights at the Super Bowl. Penny going off to Hawaii with the kids and some new man. Penny getting a huge new tattoo. Every time she sees her, Penny rattles on to my wife about her list of Tinder lovers. Penny will show off the collection of lewd photos these men have sent her right there around all the kids, embarrassing my wife with her lack of discretion. These days, my wife has asked me to pick our daughter up from these events so she doesn't have to meet Penny anymore, and I don't blame her.
"Who are we to judge?", many would ask. More importantly, we can do very little to intervene in this madness.
It's hard not to feel guilty pulling away from a widow, but looking at all this through a Red Pill lens has made it easier.
Marrying her right after college, Bruce had clearly settled for Penny just as his own SMV was ascendant and hers was peaking. From her gluttonous personality, her crass mouth and her lack of respect for her body, it is clear to me that Penny rode the CC hard through her college and found her provider just as she slammed into the Wall. While her kids are clearly Bruce's (they look just like him), it is hard for me to feel confident that she wasn't getting action on the side.
After her initial wave of grief, Penny's anger became less about him "abandoning" her to his sudden lack of provisioning. Even though she is capable of supporting herself and he had a significant life insurance policy, her behavior is less that of the grieving widow trying to regroup and more like the new divorcee trying to recapture her bygone AF/CC days. I get that she is grieving in her own way, but she has regressed to old patterns of validation that are no longer useful - she certainly won't be finding any high-quality men the way she is going about it - at the expense of her boys. Penny has gone full berserk hamster, leaving the needs of her kids far to the back of her mind.
I am reminded of Rollo's "War Brides" theory, where it is psychologically easier for a woman to move on after tragedy, and I am inclined to agree. Perhaps I am deluding myself and AWALT, and I certainly don't expect my wife to stay alone forever if I died, but I like to think she would have a better capacity to take her time and put my daughter's needs ahead of her own hypergamous nature. Watching Penny unravel has put that question into my mind where it never existed before.
Gentlemen, this is a case study why you must be careful with choosing whom to have your children with. This forum is filled with stories of cuckolds and divorce-rapes and white knights gone wrong, and they are all aggravating and heartbreaking. But I can think of no worse scenario than to have your children - your boys, your legacy - left with someone who is incapable of raising them and you powerless to stop the preventable hardships that await them. The only blessing is that Bruce isn't around to see it.
For what would Bruce think?
It chills me to write those words.
For God's sake, don't be like Bruce. And sweet Jesus, Mary and Joseph, don't marry Penny.
Good luck, Brothers.
