Went on a tinder date yesterday. Was supposed to be drinks, but turned into dinner because I figured I may as well try a new place and meet someone new. I didn't see the signs beforehand. The pictures the person had and text interaction... so bland. Did not interest me, yet I invited the person out. YIFU.

Date showed up and I learned almost immediately that this person was as interesting as a plank of wood:

  • sheltered upbringing with no real passion in life
  • no real desire to travel or learn new things
  • just spends money like no tomorrow; no practical/domestic skills
  • shitty conversationalist. 95% of the time I brought up the topics while she gave me blank stares and answered my questions. No reciprocation.

I just wanted to eat my shitty food, but shitty service prolonged the evening. Said goodbye, "nice meeting you". Shitty way to spend $20 + 1.5 hours. I know I could've walked away, but maybe that would be overkill. I haven't had to do that just yet. Perhaps one of these days I will.

Lesson: Even if just to socialize, make sure your time and money is being well spent. If you think a person can actually bring value into your life, then great. Make sure you know you can grow from every experience. Vet people out for signs of personality, or lack of. Women test you - why shouldn't you test them?

It's been said time and again: Don't commit to a dinner right off the bat - keep it light so you could get out quickly if things are bad. I didn't listen and I paid the price. This was what I got, and a good lesson learned.

TLDR; Make sure your time and money is well spent. You have better things to do and better people to meet. Don't lower yourself because you "have nothing to lose" - you do, and it's your TIME.
