I’ve noticed the contention here and there. I know it’s sometimes really easy to lose patience with people when they don’t see things as clearly as others. I see it this way: freeing yourself from societal conditioning is similar to overcoming an addiction. Addicts can convince themselves of some pretty spectacular things for the sake of getting a fix. “It’s not that bad/this is the last time/this is actually good for me...” Once rehab starts, relapse is to be expected. Relapse is almost always part of rehabilitation. Shit, my last “relapse” was back in April, putting up with behavior I wouldn’t even dream of dealing with now.
So it’s a process. And some here are at a point where relapse isn’t a possibility and they no patience for those who aren’t at that level. And that’s fine. The older I get, the less patience I have for certain things, so I’m not judging. As a whole, this sub has helped me cultivate more peace in my life than I’ve ever had. Most of us mean well, even the tough-love ladies.
