You're half right

Men are traditionally taught to believe that women are archetypical princesses, that they are inferior in strength and stability and they are a protected class. That's why there is so much blowback in our postmodern indoctrination. Women now compete in the male dominance hierarchy while also being a protected class which breeds chaos.

Everyone knows that despite traditionalism's shortcomings, it was at least cohesive because it affirmed the natural male and female masculine feminine dynamic. But when you raise children to not just ignore it but embrace the illusion that it doesn't exist it only breeds contempt. So many men are growing up depressed because their masculinity was shut down. So many women are unsatisfied because they are expected to not rely on femininity. We rejected the natural order and now we have a bunch of confused people

Men don't lust after every woman. Men COULD lust after most women if prompted. Women only can't lust after most men because their sexuality is only activated if men meets a higher set of criteria beyond looks.

Many have this false idea of how civility/respect for personhood being a given when men desire and pursue women.

It's visible when people– generally men– define ''objectification'' as mere sexual desire. Which is misleading. Objectification, as it's used, is a term for the process when attraction turns into dehumanizing (1) and reduced empathy for the person. (2)

If not taking that into account, I'm not surprised that people think that ''putting women on a pedestal'' is a kind or ''respecting'' thing to do.
