Just throwing this out there, but wanting or needing to get to know someone better prior to physical intimacy of any kind is not a gendered issue.

It could be due to an anxiety disorder like touch aversion or haphephobia, which a majority of us on the spectrum have. Since about 1 in 60 kids have some version of autism, and it's more prevalent in boys, it's actually more likely to meet a man with it than a woman. You just wouldn't know that if you're a straight guy, obviously. But yeah, our bodies are hyperaware of our sense of touch, so something that can be ignored or not even consciously processed by a neurotypical is in the forefront of our minds. This is why textures are very important to us, and it may take a long time to become comfortable with receiving touch from a specific person. But generally, once we are, it's pretty smooth sailing from that point with them.

That's my reason, other people may differ.
