That isn't exactly right.

Yes, there are SJW lawyers who solely represent women and see their practice as sticking it to the patriarchy. They want to fleece men as much as possible and make the divorce as inequitable as possible. These are the types of lawyers who advise their female clients to accuse the husband of abuse to get him arrested and thrown out of the house.

But a lot of divorce lawyers start out as tort or criminal law or "legal aid" type lawyers (they represent the interests of social workers or parents facing social workers). They get into divorce because of the demand. They have 10 people call up with simple issues and then follow it up with questions about divorce. Divorce law is a demand sided practice. Divorce law is messy, time consuming, and depressing. Most divorce attorneys hate what they do.

The problem is the family courts. An overwhelming amount of divorce cases are decided by settlement or arbitration, not by the judge. Why? If the judge makes an adjudication assigning marital assets, it can be appealed. The /stein/berg/gold/silver last name feminist judges always favor the woman and everything they do to the father is unfair. So how can they get away with entering a decision that fucks the husband over?

They make the proceedings slow to a crawl, they threaten to throw out prenups, they delay proceedings indefinitely, they enter temporary orders that force the husband to pay absurd temporary support, they hold the parties in contempt, they prolong discovery for months, or they have their own policies and procedures that have "make work" provisions that keep the attorneys on both sides running up hours like hamsters on a wheel, e.g., submitting frequent accounting reports.

All of this is designed to make the proceedings as painful and costly as possible. Then the judge offers a brilliant solution - go to a court approved settlement conference or arbitration. How does this help the judge? Basically, the settlement conference or arbitration comes up with an "agreement" between the parties and the judge then "orders" enforcement of the private agreement. This absolves the judge from decision-making, and therefore appeal.

Don't want to agree to settle? Then the judge throws the lawyers and parties back into the hamster wheel of discovery and delays and reporting, driving costs up indefinitely until the parties cave and agree to a settlement conference or arbitration.

It isn't the lawyers. It is the judges.

I respectfully disagree (but also get your point). There are people on Capitol Hill called lobbyists.....feminisists have a very effective lobbying arm - they use guilt, shame and threats as their main tool. Look into the early '80's no fault divorce and how that came to be. Look into title IX and how THAT came to be...it wasn't lawyers....it was lobbyists.
