Can't you win any shittest by putting yourself in their frames & reply humorously without exaggerating?

Like, a girl just told me, you're thin. I replied humorously, you wanna be my personal trainer & hit the gym together? She laughingly said nooo.

The reason i'm asking this is it's easy for me to swiftly reply with humor than exaggerating but i'm not sure.
