I've seen a lot of promising posts regarding how this quarantine is the perfect time to better oneself and enter monk mode. I completely agree with this.

I've seen many people list out all the wonderful habits they will develop and the vast array of skills they will develop.

Whilst there is an influx of posts of this nature right now, I've seen it all before. Back when I used instagram, I'd see that tubby girl post a pic of her 'feeling hopeful' with her new diet plan, and how it was the start of a new chapter of her life; six months later, she'd gotten fatter. I'd see that scrawny kid post a pic of his first gym session, never to see any further progress. Heck, even some of my friends would talk about how they were starting a new cool hobby and found it super interesting... only to jump to the next trending thing a fortnight later.

The purpose of this post is a reminder that this is not an easy journey. Reading about whatever (including TRP) and writing about it is less that 5% of what is required to improve. The rest is doing. You can read, watch youtube videos all you like, but that won't get you any closer to success. Success is the long road, riddled with obstacles.

Weak men break at the sight of the first obstacle. You, who wrote that you are going to start working out hard- yes, you. Don't go hard for one week to then get a small strain and stop for the next month.

Great men understand that the obstacle is the way. When they become frustrated, bored or tired, they push through the discomfort to achieve that they willed.

This is a reminder, an echo of something many people have said before. But I feel it's needed now more than ever. Those of you who've listed more than 5 different things (especially if they are something you haven't done before), I urge you to reconsider. Narrow it down to 3 habits that you will engage in relentlessly, and persist with not only throughout this lockdown, but beyond it too.

Those of you who have posted about the things you're going to do, you better have fucking started, and you better update us with how you've improved in 6 weeks.

Good luck brothers
