Here's the breakdown by yours truly:

Mike is a cool dude, got his head screwed on right.

Sarah is a typical dumb bitch from a dysfunctional modern fam.

They get together and they have tons of problems, incompatibility.

Mike doesn't put up with her shit, but he is still on the blue pill heavy: I'll be there to support you no mater what, etc. etc. Shooting himself in the foot and annoying his girl with his proud blue noblesse.

She just plain doesn't want it, doesn't want to be rescued, doesn't want any noble gentleman gestures. She wants thrills and assholes, emotions (good AND bad) and fun. Unconscious, involuntary emulation of the type of relationship that the parents had when one is growing up is very common. You can't fault her for it, or fix it for her. If Mike is not into that type of relationship, he'll eventually have to walk away from Sarah, just a matter of time.

His blue pill self-sacrificing mindset is going to make that transition a lot more difficult and traumatic for him than it ever needed to be or was worth. He's sure to take it personal, and as a personal failing of his that it "didn't work out with Sarah". He couldn't protect her the way she deserved to be protected, he is a shameful loser who "wasn't there for her". It is all bullshit, but how is Mike supposed to know that? Every boy is brought up to believe this bullshit without question, you almost have to be a clinical sociopath to escape some of the BP brainwashing.

She probably quit thinking friends or BF would support her problem is you can't support another if you need support yourself.

The main problem I see for the future is she wants the relationship to be like her parent's that should be a Red Flag because they fight a lot. The problem is not that she wants to be her mother but she'll turn out to be her father just to create conflict and turn HIM into her mother.

The reason he probably stays is so he has someone going through the same problems and his own seem normal.

Run. Run far away, and never return. He should tell her he needs to return some video tapes and never come back.

-She wants to emulate her parents disfunction, and she is only happy when she is treated like crap. That desire to recreate that dynamic and longing for chaos are reasons enough to bail out.

-She quit her job and can't see him...because he is no longer a priority in her life. I doubt she even considers them a couple any more, at least, not when Chad is around. If she really valued him, she would pick up a second job to see him twice as often.

I don't see an issue as long as:

1) He holds frame and sets boundaries with clear punishments

2) He's happy with what he has

He's on the cusp, she's on tilt. I myself don't see a good end of it, but odd things happen.
