IMDb Dosed (2019)

Hey guys. I just watched a documentary called Dosed which follows a heroin addict through her battle to get off Heroin and focuses on alternative natural remedies like psychedelics (mushrooms and Iboga).

Although the science and stories of the psychedelic options are interesting, the woman (Adrianne) is pretty much the women we see EVERYWHERE and discuss here.

Started out with a promising future. Started hitting the booze at 15. Spent the next 2 decades in 'party mode'. Worked at a law firm (no description of what she actually did); partied every night - coke and booze and kept taking bigger and bigger risks. Gets hooked on heroin and now she wants off.

She self-sabotages constantly. She's dying for attention. She must have had TONS AND TONS of attention not even that long ago because you can totally see just how hot she used to be.

Of course everyone wants to see if they can help her and 'unlock' any past trauma that caused her addiction. She can't recall any but she'd fucking LOVE to because this would allow her to escape accountability.

I think the director, her friend, really tried to remove sex/promiscuity from the story. Sex and the types of parties and men she used to date and the numbers are NEVER discussed but they did mention one guy in high school (he was totally an alpha) cheated on her. But you can't miss when she talks about how emotional and hurt she was in high school by all the relationships. She said something like 'all the changing of relationships'. They show pics of her drinking... or in the club, or sprawled across the laps of a couple giant black guys that look like hip hop artists....

No matter how hard they tried to hide it, we KNOW what the fuck she did. She even talks about how she's been trying to find connections and bonding but can't. Yeah, no shit, and it's not the men (in general) honey, it's you and the men you chose.

The tall guy in high school was obviously out of her league and had a lot of options, that's why he cheated. And she's all devastated. She also tried to recall the story of one time when her mom left her at a babysitters and "it felt dark"... but she was 2. She can't remember anything of course.

Her mom and dad are divorced and she was raised by her single mom that used to work. Now that her life is in shambles she lives with dad. She talks about all the damage she's done but clearly it doesn't bother her THAT much.

They try to keep a lot of her drama out of the film but they can't hide it all. Like how she self-sabotages right before she's supposed to get treatment. And how she LOVES all the attention from all the men around even though I'm sure she thinks she's the prize. And how she tried to smuggle more drugs into detox and how she 'accidentilly' took double what she was supposed to take (before detox) because she was 'so nervous'.

Anyway guys, if you're bored and want to see a movie where they try to hide the AWALT as much as possible when it's impossible to completely hide, give this movie a try.
