"Now children, what do you say when you meet a nice man?" "ARE YOU MY DADDY?" 20+ years after I saw this movie for the first time and this line still makes me laugh. Mostly because having grown up in the barrio, you're going to run across plenty of single moms looking for a simp like Ashtray so they can get a real man to take care of their little bastards while still claiming welfare.

Two things here. One, a movie like this wouldn't be made today. It's not just the crass humor, but that they rip on pretty much everyone. Bear in mind this is a satire on hood movies like Menace to Society and Boyz in the Hood which came of age along with gangsta rap in the late 80s and early 90s and the post Rodney King LA riots had just happened, so you better bet that in the woke Black Lives Matter era, this will rub plenty of people the wrong way. Not to mention they poke fun at mudsharks and the black men that fuck them, white cops, black cops (portrayed by Bernie Mac, RIP), black Muslims, Asian store owners, etc. And it doesn't help that a member of the Wayans clan, Damon called out the Cosby accusers by saying it was a money hustle and referring to them as "unrapeable.". Now this movie unfortunately did help spawn the horrible satire movie genre with movies like Scary Movie that would plague the 2000s, but that's another story.

The other thing is the scene where Toothpick uses cigarettes as money. If there's anything that we can learn from prison culture, in times like these, bartering may well make a big comeback. Especially if you're the guy that can procure or even grow tobacco or cannabis, or have the ability to distill whiskey or brew beer, you'll do fine, simply because now more than ever, people want to forget their troubles by smoking and drinking. Just ask the thots that are stuck in quarantine.

If any younger brothers haven't watched this, please do. Especially if you're in quarantine, what else are you gonna do?
