I used to work on Cockatoo Island of the Kimberley cost in West Australia, Iron ore mine and ship-loader.

The Chinese ore ships would dock and we would start loading.The guys on these ships stay on board for 12 months straight at a time.They are not allowed off the ship till their 12 months is completed and the ship returns to their home port.

We had one guy fake a medical emergency so he could be airlifted off the ship to mainland Australia where he tried to claim asylum. Never saw a woman on board one of these.

All these guys were doing was working to send money home ( most of them anyway)

They would swap beer / cigarettes/money for new porn - magazines/dvds whatever they could get.
