thing is, race is so apparent immediately, the first thing we notice about each other. Our brains do a couple of things particularly well: 1) try to find correlations 2) note phenotype/genetic differences. Combine those two together, and whether we like it or not, our brains, ALL of our brains, are going to find correlations between phenotype groups, and race is the most apparent of those.

So right off the bat, we're at a disadvantage to "getting along", because of our own biology and brains. Can this be overcome? Yes, but boy it's not easy to overcome your own biological psychology, and on top of that, you'd need excellent leadership to unite the people under one identity and set of values, beliefs, etc. Now, if the leadership isn't excellent, or the people can't at least share the same beliefs, values, customs, etc,...then it is doomed. I wish it weren't doomed, but it is. We are animals, behavioral neuroscience experiments of evolution. We are competing for resources, from food and water, to land, and even females. That's not to say a black man and an asian can't be best friends, for example, but their own biological psychology is always going to subconsciously be throwing up roadblocks, and if any politician tries to play on their psyche at all, any identity politics, then it's really going to throw an extra wrench in there pretty hadcore. Still possible, but extremely difficult
