According to this podcast, the frontman for Plain White T's wrote this song after he met this girl named Delilah at a party in Chicago and became obsessed with her. To the point that even though she wanted nothing to do with him and even told him she had a bf in New York, he wrote the song for her. And yet she did go to the Grammys with him and the band. According to the hosts, they were nominated in two categories and lost, so we can assume he didn't get laid. And I thought Ed Sheeran was beta.
