I visited Dresden a few years ago. I was very pleasantly surprised. It was a lovely couple of days there. I didn't know much about it except for the fire bombing in 1945.

Apparently most of the reconstruction is quite recent and during the time of the DDR there were sheep grazing in the central square. Would recommend a visit to Dresden to everyone.

The only regret I have is the US should have let Germany alone, have a gentleman handshake to let them finish up Red Russia before getting it on.

In fact, this is what George Patton proposed after Germany defeat--arm the German army to go in together and wipe out communism. But he mysteriously died of a traffic accident shortly after. Google it.

Fact is communism in Russia/Europe/China killed more of their own people than Hitler, Tojo ever did.
