I did look up the Wiki bio of the organizer of the first Mexican cartel in the 1980s, Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo. Just started watching second now after going through first season again.

Don't know if his father's name is Félix or Gallardo. worked in Mexico and people who are married used surnames of both parents, father's surname first. (when a woman marries, she keeps her father's surname first, then her husband's main surname, his dad's, second). Anyway Félix Gallardo stayed free until 1989 and continued to operate the cartel from prison until 1993 until he was moved go a high security prison, where he remains today.

He did set up his nieces as heads of some of the trafficking routes, Wiki said. Most of his nephews also set up have been captured and still in prison, while most nieces run free. So while "Narcos Mexico" says at start of each episode that though based on facts, they've taken liberties, they can do that.

What is interesting is he had children but apparently none followed him into the trafficking business. He apparently had enough money in American banks under false names and maybe in Swiss banks so they could live legal lives of luxury.

I'd be too afraid to try to smuggle a single joint across a border, but I'm always amazed at how these Columbian and Mexican drug lords already have more money than they, their kids and grand kids can ever hope to spend but they remain traffickers with big U.S. targets on their backs. Must be a power trip better than drugs, I suppose.

Is this Narcos Mexico? Or Narcos?

I know both are based on some true events. If that particular scenario is based on true events then I wouldn't mind it being part of the story line honestly.

You'll be surprised how cucked narcos are. Apparently that was the case for Escobar. I actually found it interesting that when he was at the end of his rope and he fled with his driver Limon to his dad's ranch, Dad was the one who had the balls to call him out on his violent ways. Not his wife or his mom or the semi hot reporter he was banging. He was probably doing a lot of choices just to appease these women. And that includes doing violent shit, which is why the women turned a blind eye.

So I wouldn't boycott it because it's pretty factual. Women are a big part of the criminal underworld. While it is true that girlfriends who run afoul of their powerful sugar daddies may meet grisly ends, the ones that are good girls may end up very powerful because vagina. Just ask Emma Coronel, Joaquin "Chapo" Guzman's young wife.

watched the first season, enjoyed it. didn't watch past that. i think there have been two or three seasons since.

i just dont watch it because i dont want to be forced to read the subtitles.

Netflix should have made an English audio track as an option that can be accessed in the settings (like they did for the German language series "Dark").. so what if the lips don't match whats being said? if i want to read, i'll grab a fucking book.
