i used to think this....then i realized everything on tv from that era was propaganda. Youtube has several black and white invterviews of random men from the 1950s on the street. They ask the men uf they help with housework and all that. Every dude says they work on average 50 hours a week and come home to do cleaning and cooking chores and yardwork while the wife gets a break. Yep, go look.
