My father is 53 years old. My parents were married for 25 years and seemed to be happy. Much to my displeasure they chose to seperate. Their divorce was amicable settled. Monetarily my father hadn't lost quite a bit. But emotionally this devastated him. He's alone. He has an uncontainable desire to have a romantic partnership.

He plans to get married again. Where I'm from typically divorces lead to financial ruination. Worst case scenario his second wife chooses to seperate I can't imagine my father surviving this trauma. I've tried to persuade him against it. But it seems unfair to him. He needs companionship and someone to take care of him.
