Years ago, I took my parents on a road trip. We went into the mountains. At the top, I took a picture of the sign that said 14,000 feet. My mom asked "What's the point of that, stand next to the sign and let me take your picture!"

The thought process is why mess up a cool pic by getting in it? The idea is too get a pic of the car not of yourself.

And the girls idea is to get a pic of herself with a cool car in the background. To me that completely messes up the pic. I know there are lots online but they weren't taken by me.

The deeper point is anyone who does this is trying to be the center of attention which to the men of this sub is very negative.

They think the universe revolves around them. So for anything to be worth photographing they have to be the subject matter. What’s in the background is irrelevant compared to them. I’ve seen this first hand. My son’s soccer team won the championship in their age division and when they were on the podium I saw one of the dad’s taking a picture of the team while his wife was taking a selfie with the team in the background. In her head that day was about her, not the hard work and dedication of those boys and what they accomplished.

Don’t see why this is a female thing. There’s infinite pictures of that car, you’re not going to take a picture that tops all of those. Why not have one with you in it? The “females just want to show what they did” doesn’t apply because if you’re posting it to social media at all, you’re telling people what you did.
