I have realized on YouTube lately that whenever people get a bunch of likes on a comment, they go and edit it to say 'thanks for the likes'. Am I just being extra or is that next level validation-seeking. I mean, cool, you got some likes, it doesn't mean anything more than people enjoyed your comment. It's not some confirmation of how 'good' you are or something.

Why take the time to edit and say thank you - for likes! Have we reached the point of no return when it comes to odd behavior on social media? Reminds me of the "will do such and such for such and such amount of likes" phenomenon on FB as well.
