WARNING: LONG POST
Brothers,
One of my most important goals in life is financial stability and comfortable life. I currently live in South America and everything here is shitty from top to bottom. It's no place do live, only for tourism. I have a bachelors degree in Computer Science and currently am an entrepreneur. I share this small company with my business partner, we have only two employees. We work with IT Consulting (specialized in RPA, BI and Data Analytics) and I'm able to make a decent amount of money out of it. I work 12 hours daily on average, from Monday to Saturday.
I'd like to move to Canada and have already a plan set in motion for such goal. I've applied for a post-graduate course that lasts for 1 year in Canada. I've sent my documents, passed the English proficiency test and am waiting for being either approved or rejected for the course in September 2020. I've prepared everything in advance and have enough money to survive for a year in the city I'll study in. After finishing this course I'll have a post-graduate education level that has value in Canada, since my degree from my country is of no value anywhere else without applying for making things equivalent. After this one year of study I'll be granted a one year work visa. I plan to work in IT Consulting as well since I've proficient in this field and the post-graduate course is about business and technology. After this one year work visa has expired I'll apply for permanent residency and I believe I'll be able to get it. Let's assume I'll be a permanent resident for the sake of this post.
Now we're in 2023, I'm a permanent resident in Canada and have post-graduate education. What are some options I can take to make bank? I've thought about these:
- Trying to become an Area Controller at NAV CANADA. Starting salary is 100k/year but it is very hard to get into and may take years
- Offshore oil rig worker. According to Google the average salary is 139k/year and I have no idea how to get into this job
- Maritime pilot. According to Google the average salary ranges from 100k/year to 300k/year and I have no idea how to get into this job
- Freight railway conductor. According to Google the starting salary is 75k/year and I have no idea how to get into this job
- Applying for med school, build up student debt and then enjoy the salary of a physician. I know this will cost me at least 5 to 6 years for things to start to look good
I'd like to hear your thoughts and opinions about my situation and my plans. I want to make bank and have a comfortable life. I'm good with math, problem solving and technology as this is what I do on a daily basis. As far as I know there's nothing I can't learn but I know I'm no god and have my limits. I just want to let you know that jumping from technology to psychology or biology is no issue for me as far as I know. I deal well with stress and long work hours as that has been my reality for four years now.
So, what advices to you guys have for me?
If you have any questions, I'll try to answer as soon as possible.
