You're right in the sense that one shouldn't make character judgements based on whether a guy lifts or not (assuming he isn't a lard ass).

On the other hand, I think lifting is emphasized heavily on this sub b/c it's a fairly straight forward method of making yourself more attractive. If you have the game to get by w/o it, more power to you. I don't at this point, so it's nice to have that to fall back on a bit.

All those things u talk about are distractions and gimmicks. Most people can't even commit to lifting and now you're suggesting they take it easy and derail off their program and bullshit with friends and text people etc. No. Go in there and lift your damn weights.

I mean you are right on the surface, but itnneeds to be drilled in the heads of newbies here that lifting isn't optional if you want to maximize your SMV. Not only is lifting not Optional but being serious about your lifting and staying disciplined and being honest with yourself and challenging yourself is not optional either. I see a lot of Guys in the gym daily who are there to just check it off the list

alpha is a state of mind. you are not your muscles, you are not your height, you are not your wallet, you are not your clothes. if you think any of those things make you alpha, it's because you are a beta and always will be, and that's why you have to pay women in some way or another for them to pretend to like you. i always get shit about saying exactly what you're saying, and they never seem to realize that i probably lift better than they do.

Some people have hobbies and some of those hobbies are lifting. I take lifting about as seriously as I take car restoration and counterstrike.

The two hours (give or take) is gym time. Complete and utter focus. The rest of my day is completely seperate from lifting.

It's like telling sports players "hey don't take it too seriously. Just have fun with it." That's how they get demoted.

Right in context, but wrong again. Yes, when lifting, keep your head down and get to work. But every time I see a post around here along the lines of "talk to everybody" it gets upvoted like crazy, because it's an awesome way to both kill approach anxiety (being used to chatting up strangers) and build your social circle.

this rant is utter bullshit. how did you come to the conclusion that people on here take training/lifting way too seriously? just your own observations? people may perceive the attitude here differently. what exactly is wrong with 'training too seriously' anyway?

Take your time to change songs in betweens sets. Have a training parter that you crack jokes with in between sets. Have a day here and there where you go off your programming and just do your favorite lifts because it's more fun. There is no need to go radio silent for those two hours or wake up at 3:30 AM just because you feel Alpha smashing weights early when everyone else is sleeping.

your 'lifting tips' read like drivel you'll see on some buzzfeed article. I wonder what Eugene Sandow had on his playlist when he trained? i think if you really know what you're working for when you train you probably dont even need follow any suggestions you made. for the most part you're going to the gym to take ownership of your body and mind state and become more disciplined. This is why training/lifting is fundamental and not merely some thing you half ass
