I took waaaay too long to get to brown belt. I didn't train at all for the 4.5 years I was with my younger girlfriend. I train three times per week. A couple observations: 1) Cross training is vital. I work at a job from home. Can confirm, so much less wasted time. We have a weekly meeting that runs 1 hour. I work about 15 to 20 hours on billable reports and another 20 to 25 on coding/database management. When thing are going great, I'm less than perfectly accurate in counting time, but just as often I'm over my 40 to get the required work done. I definitely agree with this post. It requires some level of DGAF since sometimes the things you're busy with will be unimportant to others.

That's my point about progression. Dips on bars is different from dips on rings. Three sets of eight pull-ups? Ok, now launch all the way over the bar. If that's boring, do an iron cross. If you're doing more than 3X8 on any particular move, you're right, diminishing returns. But any of those things you're doing, you can progress from, for the most part, outside of squats.

Yep I buy steaks in bulk and cut them into 4 oz. pieces and freeze them. After defrosting, coat in salt & pepper and pan fry with olive oil and butter, with roasted veggies on the side.
