Hello fellow men,
I will just tell you a bit about my situation and maybe some of you could help me realize what's going on with me.
I am 23 years old and haven't been in a relationship with a girl at all my entire life. I had countless opportunities in high school, uni, but I never went through with it and now I will explain you why. From the age of 9 to 18 I practiced Taekwondo , I followed my older brother's steps in that regard and although I don't regret it. For even after years of not practicing the sport it gave me a body that I am satisfied with and need little work to do in order to maintain my physique. But the other part that screwed with me is that our trainer besides the physical training part, taught us bible studies. So after training for one hour every week we would go and do lessons on different stories from the Bible. We had our notebooks and homework. We also had a course titled "Marriage without regrets" where we were taught about man and woman, the sacrilege of virginity and how sex before marriage is not allowed and the likes. At that point it made perfect sense to me, I actually wanted to marry a girl who would be my first and me hers. I didn't have a desire to chase girls and sleep with them, I just wanted to find that one girl who I could imagine myself close to and able to build a family with. Yeah that innocent, romantic fairy-tale..I know. That's what my older brother did and as he was a role model for me I wanted to do just the same. After heading to uni abroad I got very depressed and even though I tried to rebel and change myself. Not let depression take over , I'd go clubbing with my roommates. One time got so far as to make out with this study abroad girl outside the club and it was easy for me to get her to my room and have sex with her, she was into me, not so much as I was about her for I felt wrong somehow about it. It felt wrong for me to lose my virginity that way with a girl I barely knew. So I dropped it at that. Call it my morals or fear, but I couldn't go through it. Eventually I dropped out and moved back home and finished uni at home. Left to UK for half a year to try things on my own, hoping to get out of the depression cycle and get some independence from family. I did that too, found a job, was able to save around 800 £ per month. Need to say that I didn't go clubbing or hang out at all. I just was working and going around places on my own. No useless spending on trivial stuff. Didn't make any friendships really, just would go out with some co-workers occasionally. To the end of the 6 months I was depressed to the point of getting suicidal and every single day contemplating it. I just didn't see any point in living the way I have been. Alone, no close relationships, working just to live another month. There was no point, so I decided to quit that job and with the money saved take a trip and then head back home where I'd put an end to my life. I somehow even thought of making it less expensive on my family to repatriate my dead body, that's that. So I went to Amsterdam and thought of paying a prostitute and get over with this virginity thing. I was for a week there and as I was walking during the nights drunk, alone among those streets and the Red Light District, watching all those hot girls behind those windows pointing their fingers to join them. Even if money was no problem, again I just couldn't do it. I couldn't bring myself to go through with it. I didn't know those girls, I couldn't make myself see sex just as a mere transaction, an exchange. Her body - my money. I had to resign with the idea of dying a virgin. So after that I went to visit my best friend since high school in Germany. We'd hang out with his friends and smoke weed and travel to Berlin, eat out and drink a lot. It was one of the best parts about that trip, having someone close to you, a guy friend you trust and whose company you enjoy. Needless to say I haven't made any male friends since I graduated high school. After a long time it was nice to have that even if for a few brief days. After getting home, I didn't have the courage to go through my suicide and being a total useless piece of meat for a few months at home just locked myself in my room and did nothing but sit at the computer. I decided to find a job after being a slob. I got hired and now work as a flight attendant and interact with lots of girls at work. Don't get me wrong I have no problem interacting with girls and I don't feel anxious to approach or initiate a conversation. But I just feel like a lot of my views changed from that period of Bible studies. I don't want marriage and nor do I want kids in my life. So the no sex before marriage makes no sense. But at the same time I just can't get myself to become vulnerable and share that side of myself to another person. It's like I don't want to open myself, I don't think I deserve that type of care and love in my life for I am not sure I can provide that to someone else. And I don't think I am wrong about that. I have spent so much time by myself, alone, that I have no clue how to act the other way. I also fear of losing this independence I have at this time, no mind games, no cares.
