Recently I came across the video of the short guy that snaps at a bagel shop. While context seems to be missing as to why he did snap like that and became irate at everyone around him, it is important to draw the right conclusions from this sad event.
- On people making fun of him online. People like Owen Benjamin and anons online are having a field day making fun of him for being angry at women and the way society treats shorter men. When you bully and abuse the weak you create more suffering that you could help attenuate or erase if you were more empathic. Relishing other people's suffering only creates more suffering. And then we wonder why do people snap and go on killing sprees in a country where guns are readily available for everyone to buy like candy. Fellow mgtow men, don't be like Owen Benjamin and don't participate in these sadistic rituals that do nothing for you or the benefit of your fellow men.
- On the short man losing his temper. While it can be said that I'm a short person by people obsessed with height (I'm 5'9), my height has never been an impediment to get to know people, be liked, accepted, or even respected. I have had girlfriends, I had a wife once, I have had lovers, I have done a little bit of everything with women and they had done a bit of everything with me. In short, it's hard for me to relate to this man's suffering as I'm not as short as he is. But one thing I draw from seeing him losing his temper so violently is that he is suffering and that a big chunk of his suffering comes from from his fixation on his condition. While yes, it can be said that he is short and will remain short until he dies, wouldn't he be happier if he tried to find peace and enjoyment in the things that he can control in his life, namely how he views himself and feels about himself? For him to react that angrily, it shows that he may not have the best opinion of himself due to factors that he cannot change. Likewise, there is a lot of societal expectations and pressures placed upon him for being short.
- On what can be done if you face similar circumstances. As we know here, being a man in Western society means that you are an utility, and if you are not useful then you are worthless. Short men, by virtue of biologically defined features, thus, are seen as useless, weak, not fit to breed/reproduce, etc... if you happen to be short, why attach yourself to those expectations? Let go of them all and learn to find peace within yourself and your existence. Many of the things that make us rage come from within. But they come from within because we create them in our minds and feed them with our thoughts and energy, thus making them stronger and allowing them to overtake us in dire moments like it happened to this guy. Once you learn to detach yourself from your self-image and identity and see yourself as just another person in this world, it's easier to let go of the ugly things that people said to you or have done to you. Not saying that it will be a breeze, but if you build your mind and temper your spirit, you will be surprised to see the amazing feats you can accomplish and how little things will bother you as you continue with your journey through life.
Thank you for taking the time to reading my thoughts. I hope that the guy on the video eventually finds inner peace and doesn't go on to perpetuating his suffering, or creating new forms of suffering by committing violence against others.
